NOTE: This is a new topic for this project, please discuss with your teacher as you have ideas.

Social Entrepreneurship

You are going to USE the trends that you study to spark or promote change in the area that your group selects. Non profit organizations are struggling to understand how to use the trends that are "flattening" our world, here is your chance to help.

What is a Social Entrepreneur?

A social entrepreneur is defined as:

"someone who recognizes a social problem and uses entrepreneurial principles to organize, create, and manage a venture to make social change." [1]

In these videos you will select the social cause of your team's choice, and using the information learned about your trend create a video about how the trend you analyzed can be used to spark change in that area. If you find current organizations involved that you wish to share as part of your video, please discuss this with your teacher before writing it into your script.

Appropriate topics

These should be GLOBAL in nature.

Some examples would be:
  • health issues
  • environmental issues
  • science issues
  • other global issues
  • how non profits can use your trends (i.e. how colleges could use cell phones for safety or a prediction of how a certain trend could be evolve to be useful -- kids sharing observations on climate change, for example.)

Your Audience

You may choose to target teens, adults, children, as long as you DEFINE your audience.

This would be a great opportunity for a video series.

Your Film

You may be creative in your film. It could be a:
  • Documentary -narration over pictures.
  • Dramatization - You can enact your idea in a scenario, either real or fictious
  • Interviews - Ask people involved with the trend their ideas, or their thoughts on an idea, or ask people about the trend to show that it is a problem.
  • A story - The story of a person and how this particular technology is involved
  • Just about any other film genre.
